Effective Resume Writing

Effective Resume Writing is a half-day workshop that will assist participants in preparing their resumes for a 21st Century job search. In preparation for the workshop, participants are asked to bring an electronic file and a hard copy of their resume. Follow-up individual coaching sessions will be available.

Learning Objectives

Following the session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify what employers are looking for in a resume in terms of style and content.
  • Identify basic resume writing guidelines.
  • Target their resume to the requirements of specific jobs or job categories.
  • Identify the resume format (e.g., Chronological and Functional) they should use to most effectively market their areas of strength.
  • Explain the guidelines for constructing resumes that expedite electronic scanning.
  • Prepare their resume for Internet and email submission.

Oscar Grant is a senior consultant, trainer, and mediator with over twenty years experience developing, organizing, and managing large and small organizations, non-profit agencies, and boards of directors specializing in the areas of public health, school reform and law enforcement. Dr. Grant has over 15 years as a nationally recognized public speaker and certified trainer in the fields of diversity, cross-cultural awareness, workplace violence, employment equity, mentoring and executive coaching.
